Caramel Brownies

I have been craving these caramel brownies that my mom made and was so excited when I found that I had the recipe for them!  We hosted a cookout for the Brewer's game on Saturday so I made them for dessert.  It was a great night with friends and new baby Jack and the Brewers even won.

Ingredients:
Melt together:
14 oz package caramels
1/2 cup evaporated milk

Mix together:
1 German chocolate cake mix (don't prepare as box states, you just need the flour mixture)
3/4 cup melted butter
1/3 cup evaporated milk
1 tsp. vanilla

Keep to the side:
1 cup chocolate chips

Put half of the cake mixture in a greased 9" x 13" pan and bake at 350 degrees for 8 minutes.  Remove from the oven and put chocolate chips on top.  You can also add a cup of chopped nuts if you want - I chose to pass on this step.  Pour caramel mixture on top of the chocolate chips.  Put the rest of the cake mixture in clumps on top.  Bake for 16-20 minutes.

I baked mine for 18 minutes and they stayed really gooey and yummy!
